Creating your Resume
Creating a strong resume is a crucial component in any successful job search. Your resume serves as your personal marketing document, and it serves as your first impression to an employer about your skills and qualifications. In order to create a strong resume, you have to first identify what message you want to send with your document.
For this assignment, you will explore the components of a strong resume, reflect on your own career goals, and assess what action steps you can take to make your resume stronger. To prepare your resume,
- Review the Resume Module (Links to an external site.) webinar to help prepare you for creating or updating your resume.
- Login to MyCareer through your Student Portal (Links to an external site.). Revisit your career goal and identify the top three to five skills or qualifications that make you a strong candidate for this career/position.
Note: You may choose the position you selected in week 3 discussion 1 for the completion of your resume.
- Visit the University of Arizona Global Campus Career Services (Links to an external site.) page to update your existing resume and target the industry/occupation you’re seeking. If you do not have a resume, you may also visit this site for a resume template and other resources to help you create one.
- Your resume should be one to two pages in length. Submit your completed resume to Waypoint for grading.
