Resistance Training Case Study

[WLOs: 3, 4] [CLOs: 3, 4, 5, 6]

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, watch the Weight Training vs Low Intensity Cardio—Best Way to Burn Fat? (Links to an external site.) video and read the required articles. On pages 114-124 of your course text, Laboratory Assessment Activities 4-1, 4-2, 4-4, and 4-5 describe how muscular strength and endurance can be assessed. Prior to beginning this assignment, review all four of these assessment activities, and select one of the case studies below for use in this assignment.

Case Study #1:Jolene is a 34-year-old woman who weighs 137 pounds. Jolene is 65 inches tall, healthy, and does not have any known medical issues. Her one-repetition maximum (1RM) for each of the following exercises is as follows:
Seated Chest Press: 70 lbs.
Leg Press: 120 lbs. Curl-ups (1 minute): 19
Modified push-ups (1 minute): 24
Case Study #2:Julio is a 49-year-old man who weighs 220 pounds. Julio is 76 inches tall, healthy, and does not have any known medical issues.   His one-repetition maximum (1RM) for each of the following exercises is as follows:Seated Chest Press: 180 lbs.Leg press: 340 lbs. Curl-ups (1 minute): 24

Once you have selected a case study, complete the following steps:

  • First, thoroughly examine the assessments used to obtain the provided results for your client by addressing the following:
    • What is the purpose of each of the assessments?
    • What are the benefits of performing multiple assessments?
    • Compare each of the assessments to one another. What is different and/or similar between them?
  • Next, assess the muscular strength and endurance status of your client by addressing the following:
    • Calculate your client’s strength and endurance using Laboratory Assessments 4-1 and 4-4.
    • Explain the results to your client (from your selected case study). Use your client’s name and write as if you were speaking directly to her/him.
  • Then, develop an effective resistance-training exercise plan by addressing the following:
    • Complete the “Exercise Chart  download” for your client.
      • Select eight exercises that will enhance your client’s muscular fitness.
      • Illustrate the intensity and duration by indicating the numbers for the set(s), reps, and weight that will be required.
      • Designate a frequency by indicating the dates that each session should occur.
      • Demonstrate your understanding of progressive overload. This can be designated in the plan through writing a detailed statement in the “Notes” section of the log.
  • Next, explain the assessment results and exercise plan to your client (from your selected case study). Use your client’s name and act as if you were speaking directly to him or her. After explaining the results of the assessments, provide your rationale for each component of the plan: exercises, intensity, duration, frequency, and progressive overload.
  • Lastly, assess two factors that can impact your client’s muscular strength (e.g., gender, diet, hormones, muscle size, muscle mass, and muscle fiber recruitment). Explain these factors to your client.
  • Submit your assignment for grading using the Assignment Submission Button.

Note: You are encouraged to integrate any feedback from your instructor and upload the assignment to your ePortfolio. Learn more about Folio, Ashford’s ePortfolio tool, by viewing the Folio Quick Start Guide (Links to an external site.).

Be as specific as possible when addressing the above elements and remember to include an introduction and conclusion in your paper. In addition to your course text, include a minimum of two scholarly and/or credible sources that are cited according to APA style. Your assignment must be at least five pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages. Your paper and all sources must be formatted in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?
It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.
Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
