Developing a Growth Mindset

This week you were introduced to the concept of mindset in Section 1.4 of your reading. Your mindset is the view you adopt of yourself and whether your abilities, talents, and characteristics can change or whether they are defined at birth. This journal activity will guide your exploration and processing of this concept of mindset.

To prepare for this journal, take the following ten-question Mindset Assessment (Links to an external site.). No one will see the results of the assessment but you, so be honest with yourself. Then, review the article 25 Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset (Links to an external site.).

To complete your journal, download the Mindset Journal Reflection template  downloadand respond to each section. Save the completed template to your computer and upload it to Waypoint. Be sure to double check that it was properly saved and uploaded successfully.

Use the following instructions to properly save the assignment template to your computer:

  • Right click on the Mindset Journal Reflection template.
  • Select “Save As.”
  • Save the file to your computer (desktop or a folder).

What if I don’t have Microsoft Word?

If you are not yet using Office 365 and your email address, please read the Support FAQ (Links to an external site.) for assistance.

All Ashford students have free access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote through Office 365. Students should download the software to their computer, or they can use the online or cloud version.

Late Policy: Waypoint assignments are due on the specified days in the course. Waypoint assignments will be subject to a late penalty of up to 10% per day up to three days late. If Waypoint assignments are submitted after 72 hours past the due date, instructors can give a penalty up to and including a grade of 0 for the assignment.
